Diagnostic Radiology Residency Program

The SSM Health/Saint Louis University Department of Radiology offers a four-year fully-accredited residency program in diagnostic radiology. Available after the completion of one year of postgraduate training, the program emphasizes broad training in diagnostic radiology within an academic medical environment with some exposure to the private practice setting.

Program Overview

The SSM Health/Saint Louis University School of Medicine Diagnostic Radiology program provides comprehensive training in radiology in a subspecialized academic setting. We are committed to a culture focusing on clinical excellence, patient safety and superior resident education. Our program is fully accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME). We have a total of 24 residents with six residents in each class and an additional two DR/IR residents every year. We also offer multiple ACGME-approved Early Specialization in Interventional Radiology (ESIR) pathway positions.

Through progressive responsibility, residents acquire the skills to accurately and efficiently interpret imaging studies and perform image-guided procedures across all modalities. Rotations are four weeks long and include general diagnostic imaging, pediatrics, neurological CT, body CT, neurological MR, body MR, ultrasound, musculoskeletal, cardiac, obstetrics, breast, abdominal cardiothoracic and musculoskeletal procedures, interventional and nuclear medicine.
