Housing Selection for Rising Sophomores

Online Selection

Housing contracts for rising Saint Louis University sophomores open on February 23, 2026, on eRezLife. Students must submit their SLU housing contract before participating in Online Selection. All rising sophomores are eligible to participate in the Online Selection process. During this process, you will be able to view the available spaces and reserve your space for the 2026-2027 academic year. To participate in online selection, students should submit their housing contract by March 9, 2026, at 11:59 p.m.

Students will receive a room lottery timeslot that determines when they can log in and select their space. Timeslots are randomly generated and will be available to view on March 12, 2026. Before Online Selection week begins, students will be able to preview available spaces and “favorite” the options they are most interested in. Once a student’s room lottery timeslot begins, they can log in and select their space. Online selection for rising sophomores will take place March 16-20, 2026.

During the first two days of Online Selection, roommate groups are required to fill the entire space. From the third day through the end of selection, roommate groups do not need to fill the entire space. If you are participating in Online Selection without a roommate group, you can initially select an available single space and later join partially filled spaces.

Please note that this is a live process, and multiple students will share the same timeslot. Students may participate individually or as a part of a roommate group. If you are participating with a roommate group, one roommate will select the space on behalf of the entire group. Pro Tip: have the roommate with the earliest timeslot select your space on behalf of the group.

Steps to Participate in Online Selection

Step 1: Complete your housing contract by the priority deadline.
Housing contracts will be open on Feb. 23, 2026, at 10 a.m. The priority deadline for rising sophomores to participate in online selection is March 9, 2026, at 11:59 p.m.
Step 2: Determine if you are participating as a roommate group or individually.

Online selection allows students to choose a space on behalf of a roommate group, but you may also participate individually without a group. Rising sophomores can create a roommate group of up to four students. If you plan to participate as a group, please create your roommate group on RoomeeZ. All roommates must log in to accept the group for it to be confirmed.

Step 3: View your room lottery timeslot

A room lottery timeslot is the specific time you are allowed to log in and select your housing space. You cannot choose a space before your assigned timeslot begins.

Your room lottery timeslot will be available on eRezLife under "Housing Overview" on March 12, 2026.

Step 4: View available spaces and favorite spaces you are interested in.

You can view available spaces from March 12–16 and “favorite” the ones you’re interested in. This makes it easier to find and select your preferred space when your timeslot begins.

Step 5: Log in to select your space during your room lottery timeslot.

During your timeslot, you can log in and select the space you would like to live in for the 2026-2027 academic year.  Once you have selected a space, you can still make changes to your housing assignment anytime until the end of the selection period. Online selection ends at 11:59 p.m., March 20, 2026.

Not selecting a space during online selection does not void your housing contract. If you do not choose a space, the Assignments Team will assign one for you by 3 p.m., Friday, March 27, 2026.

Residency Requirement

Saint Louis University requires undergraduate students to live on campus for their first four semesters. Rising sophomore students should either complete a housing contract or a residency exemption by April 1, 2026, to meet the residency requirement.

Students must meet specific criteria to be released from SLU's residency requirement. If you live with your parents or guardians within a 25-mile radius of campus, are over 21, are married or have children and have not yet signed a housing contract for the year, you may be eligible for an exemption to the housing requirement.

The residency exemption request form will be available from Feb. 23, 2026, to April 1, 2026, on eRezLife.

If a student fails to complete the housing contract or residency exemption, they will be charged a $4,500 administrative fee for failure to meet the residency requirement. Students will have until the start of the contract period to complete a housing contract. If completed, the administrative fee will be removed and room and board charges will apply.
