Supplemental Instruction

Supplemental Instruction (SI) is a peer-to-peer learning model designed to support students in specific classes at Saint Louis University.

Each section of a class with Supplemental Instruction is assigned an SI leader. The SI leader is a SLU student who has already taken and done well in the class. The SI leader also sits in on the current lecture and uses their experience in class to create weekly, out-of-class review sessions.

SI sessions are student-led, meaning that the SI leader won’t re-teach the lecture but will provide attendees with opportunities to understand and process the material, to ask questions and to prepare study tools.

Each SI leader hosts three Supplemental Instruction sessions per week. Each SI session is one hour. The SI session schedule can be found below.

Students who are enrolled in a class with Supplemental Instruction are invited to attend SI sessions. You do not need an appointment for SI sessions. Please arrive on time, bring any relevant course material and be ready to actively participate with your classmates. Failure to act in accordance with community standards will result in a loss of SI privileges.
